I’ve seen trucks with a chrome label plate stuck on the fender saying “Texas Edition” or “Louisiana Edition”. Other than the chrome plate, is there anything special about these vehicles? If you could make a vehicle special to your state then what type of vehicle and how would you option it making it worthy for your state’s edition?
For Louisiana it would have to be a truck. Option it with a lift, off road tires, functional snorkel, raised exhaust pipes like on a big rig, electrical connections for power outages or camp/work site equipment, ceramic window film, trailer hitch, and push bar with winch.
They are typically option packages that can be ordered.
The New England Ford Dealers typically offer every year "the F-150 New England Edition" which is a black grille, painted bumpers, 20" wheels, and Sync/XM in red or blue. No emblems, just a special price. It's not something you can order. The dealer association orders a few hundred from Ford and advertise them for sale for a couple of months.
I wouldn't be surprised that other dealer associations sell the exact same thing as the Illinois or Four Corners Edition just at a different time of year.
Fairly sure my buddy has (or had) a 1-ton Chevy Northwest Edition of some kind. It's well kitted for the peculiarities of this place. AWD or some variation therein is a swell idea here, along with heated seats and etc. Otherwise, not sure why anyone cares. It's held up well but no big shock there. The body tends to come apart but that big diesel will go who knows how many miles. At atrocious mileage in the city, impressive on the highway.
Many years ago my wife had a VW Sunbug convertible which was gold and had a special badge on the engine hatch. I believe it was a southeastern promotion.
