I see alot of cars in the parking lot where I work that have lots of scraps, dings and dents. Most appear to not be fixed due to the cost. Some of the damage is quite substantial and I wonder if they will have to do something before they attempt a trade.

Would you have your car repaired if it were driveable after an accident where you have to pay your $1000 deductible? Or just drive it until it dies?

I live in NOVA too, and know very well how bad the drivers are around here.

No, I never fix dents, scrapes, etc. Cars are just transportation to me (except for my '67 Vette, which I'm terrified to drive because of all the nuts). Plus, nickle and diming your insurance company with small stuff is not wise.

The only car I ever had fixed was my 2002 Corolla that got rear-ended to the tune of $4500....which the idiot that hit me's insurance paid for.

My observation has been that once you fix and make your car "perfect" along comes the next idiot to screw it up...nice/perfect condition cars seem to attract damage.

I park far out in the parking lot where nobody else parks. I don't mind walking an extra 100 feet if it helps keep my vehicle from getting banged up. Some people really don't care, their car looks like cr*p so they want yours to look the same way.

Years ago, people would park nice cars WAY out in the parking lot and park it diagonally, taking up two spaces.

I imagine that practice would get your car "keyed" nowadays...

I guess that depends on what kind of places you frequent. If there are "punks" hanging around it probably would.

Actually, i have a $1000 deductible and live in Northern VA. My car has a few minor dents and scratches (most from it's first owner) and i have no plans to repair them. Northern VA would just beat it up again as soon as i get it repaired. I MAY consider it after i move to Kentucky, the drivers there cant be any worse than NoVA.
