It ain't bedbugs but it is stats and should get some posts going. Here's something that almost seems to contradict the headline. We always seem to want to find someone or something rto blame in this country. Is it the casinos fault or just human nature in the big city? No, IMHO, Dennis Bailey doesn't have a solid platform on this. It's not Hollywood Slots that brought crime.
To post my honest opinion as to what's bringing crime would stir too much of a hornet's nest; however, I will say that those who are committing crime typically do not go to Hollywood Slots to either gamble, or rob those who do - period.
The contrary postings of BDN and Bangor PD however, does bring to light the truth in your and my favorite saying IMO:
"There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics."
Besides, when taking into account this quote: “They only seem to count the number of calls they get to respond to incidents on the casino property, but the problems linked to gambling addiction are much more insidious and harder to determine,” Bailey said.
one needs to realize that that area in general is well-traveled by certain let's say, "groups" of people and leave it at that.

Me eihter. No prostitutes, gang land crime, mob affiliations; nothing. When uou have a cause or agenda though, it's easy to find someone or something to blame.

I do know someone who lost his home mainly because of a gambling addiction; however, I also used to marvel at how often he played the Megabucks and Scratch tickets at the corner store (and that was long before Hollywood Slots came to town). Does this mean we should outlaw the Maine State Lottery?
It boils down to personal responsibility IMHO.

If the crime rate in 2008-2009 was three times the state average and they had a decrease of 17% in 2010 doesn't that still make the crime rate almost 2 1/2 times the state average? Sure it is a good trend but it's still pretty high in comparison to the state average!!
