The Milwaukee brewers, originally were called The Milwaukee West Ends back in 1876. Then became the Milwaukee Gray's, then in 1884 became The Milwaukee Brewers aka The Cream City's. The American Association Milwaukee Brewers were founded in 1901, after the American League Brewers moved to St. Louis and became the STL Browns then became the modern Orioles franchise can trace its roots back to the original Milwaukee Brewers of the minor Western League. Then the Milwaukee Braves came from Boston when they were the Boston Braves. Then the Braves left and then The Chicago Whitesox were one signature away from becoming The Milwaukee Brewers again or The Milwaukee White Sox, but they didn't.
The White Sox would go on to play 9 games in Milwaukee during 1968, 11 games in 1969.
In 1970 Came the current day Milwaukee Brewers using their historical name used back in 1876, The Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee is a National league team even though the American League was founded in Milwaukee at the Republican hotel in downtown Milwaukee.
So here's to you Milwaukee! hopefully we can see another World Series in Milwaukee someday instead of going back to that 1957 World Series Championship vs the Yankees.

Wiki actually has the Brewers history down very well. So I will post it.

Before the 1998 regular season began, two new teams - the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Devil Rays - were added by Major League Baseball. This resulted in the American League and National League having fifteen teams. However, in order for MLB officials to continue inter-league play, both leagues would need to carry an even number of teams, so the decision was made to move one club from the AL Central to the NL Central.
This realignment was widely considered to have great financial benefit to the club moving. However, to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest, Commissioner Bud Selig decided another team should have the first chance to switch leagues. The choice was offered to the Kansas City Royals, who ultimately decided to stay in the American League.
The choice then fell to the Brewers, who, on November 6, 1997 elected to move to the National League. Had the Brewers elected not to relocate, the Minnesota Twins would have been offered the opportunity to switch leagues.
If I'm not mistaken, the 1970 Brewers had been the '69 Seattle Pilots.
Yup they did! The way story is like this:
The matter still hadn't been resolved by the end of spring training, leaving new manager Dave Bristol and the players unsure of where they would play. The team's equipment sat in Provo Utah while the drivers awaited word to drive to Seattle or Milwaukee.
The U-Haul drivers were told to stop and wait at a truck stop until Bud Selig got the final word.
After the state filed an injunction to stop the sale on March 17, Soriano and the Pilots filed for bankruptcy to forestall any more legal action. After general manager Marvin Milkes testified that the Pilots didn't have enough money to pay the players, the bankruptcy judge granted the Pilots' filing on April 1 and ruled the move to Milwaukee in order. MLB would not return to Seattle until 1977, when the Mariners entered the AL, along with the Blue Jays.

The Brewers' Big Four have averaged 14.4 WAR over the last 3 years.
So let me understand this new WAR stat:
Pitcher WAR considers how many runs a pitcher allowed and then compares that to the number a replacement pitcher would allow.
To compute the amount from the replacement pitcher, we begin with the average runs allowed by pitchers facing the same set of teams for the same number of innings as the pitcher in question.
We then adjust that number by the defense's runs saved for our pitcher (using Total Zone) per ball in play and our pitcher's team's park factor.
So now we have runs allowed by an average pitcher with our pitcher's opponents, defense, and park.
We then multiply this by 1.22 or 1.18 (for the AL and NL respectively) to get replacement level for the AL and NL. This gives us Replacement runs, RR.
The replacement level for starters and relievers is different so we then decrease RR by 12.5% times the percent of relief innings thrown. The replacement level reliever has a much lower ERA than the replacement level starter.
We now get the pitcher's runs above replacement (RAR) as actual runs allowed - adjusted RR.
Next, we adjust for leverage and bullpen chaining by multiplying the RAR by (average leverage + 1)/2.
Finally, we adjust this into wins above replacement by dividing by a context-adjusted runs/win value (which is typically around 10).
