Grandstander, I disagree. Kimbrel is special and given other SD winter deals, this one is even more important. I did realize eating Upton's $ was the cost.

Agreed. It smacks of that FoxTrax hockey puck debacle. Pandering to casual viewers and video game fans. At the risk of sounding like grandpa telling kids to get off my lawn, how is it I was able to have a pretty good notion of what was a ball and what was a strike when I was watching a game on NBC in black & white, directed by Harry Coyle and called by Curt Gowdy?

Now that I think about it... get off my lawn!

King Felix was really impressive in winning today in Seattle. 7 innings...2 hits, one run (a Mike Trout homer), ten strikeouts and just one walk.

Scherzer pitched fairly well in his debut with the Nationals, 7 2/3, 4 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs...but lost 3-1 to old man Bartolo Colon who went 6 for the Mets, gave up 3 hits, a run, and struck out 8.

Colon will be 42 in May.

Dustin Pedroia on a pace for 320 home runs as he swatted a pair today in Boston's 8-0 opener against the Phillies. If Cole Hammels is being showcased for a trade, it wasn't a good day to be seen...5 innings, 4 runs, 5 hits and 3 walks.

New acquisition Ben Zobrist is quickly winning over the A's fans. Two run homer in his first plate appearance, double in his second.

Opening day is the only day of the season in which every team starts its ace. But in their first start, eleven of those 30 aces was hit for an ERA of 4.50 or higher.

In Jeff Banister's first game as manager of the Rangers, Texas gets one-hit by Sonny Gray and the Athletics, and loses 8-0.

Rockies were the exception to that rule. No way Kyle Kendrick is their ace. Once Jorge De La Rosa is healthy Kendrick will probably fall to 3rd or 4th in the rotation. Jorge and Jordan Lyles have 1 & 2 locked up.
