He just got waived. Wow it really sucks for the suns who agreed to that contract at that age and chris's size. 15.8 million lost for nothing. If they keep him its 30 million for a player worth 5 million. So to let him go its lose 15.8 million, keep him and overpay him 25 million. Seems like a lose lose situation, they're just cutting their losses.
CP3 probably can get 5 million with a team next year and play 20 mpg as a starter or backup, and will be injury prone and definitely miss games. He is aging fast and with his size it doesnt look good, especially on the defensive end

That is what happens when you sign players near the end of their career. It usually does not go well. Lots of teams will want him at 5 million.

Phoenix didnt have a choice, cp3 took them to the finals, and they are not a desireable place for nba players to go, so its hard to keep talent. They had to overpay him and ayton. Its funny that they underpaid bridges.
Cp3 for what he can offer next year, is probably worth 8 million, but his availability issues, i dont see him getting more than 5 million. Maybe a desperate team pays him 6-7 million, but im projecting his efficiency to be down next year. He always gets hurt when playoffs come.
Houston overpaid him because they feel they didn’t have a choice either, then Harden decided he didn’t want to play with him anymore. Funny how a player who’s never accomplished anything makes teams feel like they have choice but to pay him tens of millions every year lol

Up until recently he did seem to make teams better. Look at OKC. Look at Houston. If he did not go down they would have made the finals. The Clippers were good with him as was Phoenix early on. But he makes the team better then gets hurt in the playoffs. Now he just gets hurt too much.
But with the right team. Maybe a young team. His leadership can be helpful. Like an extra coach. I would not mind him going to the Lakers. Coming off the bench. Worst case you get nothing and did not pay him too much. Best case he steps in at times and wins you a few games. Could be a young team with lots of cap space who will overpay for him. Again not much for them to lose.

There is talk about him going to the lakers on youtube. Wont make them much better though, his prime is way past him, and year 21 lebron will have injury issues. Probably better for cp3 to go to denver, boston, philly to chase a ring. Milwaukie will not overpay for middleton, warriors core is too old. Suns are toast.
Biggest problem with cp3 is his size, he cant defend. If he is like 6'3, phoenix might have kept him, at least he can play sg against the other teams backup sg who is around 6'3. I really see him having 1 more season of being a decent rotation player, and 1 more year of being at the back end of rotation. He still has assists to chase so he can still pass jason kidd at #2.

Salty Chris Paul as a positive locker room influence? I am not sure about that.
Besides being injured, that has always been the knock on the guy, a perfectionist type grade A ***hole who is hard on his teammates and constantly finds fault, not a guy who lifts them up and inspires people to play better.

That might be true but teams he has been on tend to overachieve..

'cause he is all-time great player, not because he is a beloved teammate or positive locker room influence.
I could be wrong here, but I don't think I made it up. It's pretty well known that he is a hard guy to play with, the "bark orders at you type and show you up when you screw up" type of player that barely works when you are the A-dog, and is a liability in an aging bench guy.
As an aside, I remember a quote from the old days about Paul, "You can't win a championship when the toughest guy on your team is 6'0''." It wasn't a knock on his teammates so much as a the reality that Paul needed to empower the big guys on his team to be tough, rather than undermining them in front of opponents.

Sounds like a good match might be the Heat, pairing him with Jimmy Butler.
