... joining Van Gundy who was let go earlier this year.

The plan seems to be Breen, Doris Burke, and Doc Rivers as the "A" team for ESPN.

I'm not thrilled about that.

I did not know Van Gundy was out. That is to bad I liked both of those guys. Their banter was refreshing.

Ditto. I thought Van Gundy and Jackson made a good pair.
That being said, I also like Doris Burke. I've always thought she did a great job whenever I heard her.
I have to say, its borderline unsettling how much cutting ESPN has had to do recently. Are they really losing that much money? Then again, I'm part of the problem since I got rid of cable years ago lol.

I use Sling TV sometimes. About $35 a month. Includes ESPN. I did it when the Lakers made the run post all star game. You can start and stop whenever you want easily. Doris Burke is good. Seems like she tries to hard sometimes like she is trying to prove she is worthy. Van Gundy and Jackson just flowed naturally together. I don't get ESPN with this.

Not trying to be mean, but regardless of what kind of commenter Doc Rivers might be, do I really want to hear his voice?

I don't like his voice and his strained sounding voice sounds like it was NOT made for TV.

I might actually watch them again. Burke & Rivers might be equally annoying, but at least there’s a chance they’ll actually talk about the game being played and not ranting about how things aren’t like 20 years ago.

it's been many moons, but there was a time when Doc was actually a pretty good commentator. This was I think before he got into coaching. He would have had a long productive career calling games if he didnt got the coaching route. I think he'll be fine, better than you might expect.

I remember seeing an old interview he did back when he was still playing. You would be stunned to hear his voice back then. He sounded normal lol. I guess coaching has taken a toll on his voice.
