Has anyone flown AA premium economy coming or going on this route? What were seats like and food offerings? This is a 787-9

If you go to Flyertalk.com you find an entire thread devoted to DFW-HNL flights.

With that said - Premium Economy are a tad smaller than regular domestic first class seats - I don't know what food they are offering.

I actually fly that flight a couple of times a year - AA 8 I think? - Depending on what times in and out of HNL are available. I don't fly in too late or out too late so this one is one of the ones I use along with the United / Delta code share into ATL. To be honest, I always fly first/business class into Hawaii - don't judge me! I'll cattle car anywhere in the CONUS but it's just too exhausting to and from Hi. I prefer the United 777 ER's over the 787's which really are narrow body jets for all practical purpose (think 757). Even the pods in first are cramped compared to the 777's.

I did fly AA Premium Economy once to DFW to get back in a hurry for an emergency. I think the seats were a bit wider and deeper with more padding than the ones in the main cabin and reclined a couple inches more. Just not enough for me to get comfortable to sleep on the Redeye. Still, way better than the main cabin IMO. Would I use it again? Only if I really had to for that length of flight. Try to get a bulkhead seat but NOT by the window, its got less width due to the curve of the cabin IIRC.

I actually just booked this very route - 18:46 departure from HNL - to DFW today for a return trip. Not quite 8 hours en route. Then continuing on another to my destination (these flights always seem to have very short connection times - just 54 min in this case - at DFW so be prepared to hoof it if you're going on). Can't remember a thing about the food, I stopped at Family BBQ down by the airport and brought my own gutbuster...
