I was just reading a thread about the new data center in Birmingham that was just announced, and someone posted a picture of a new one in Dallas called InfoMart:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infoma...s_Infomart.jpg

Anybody know what the Facebook and the other data center (same as the one in B'ham) in Huntsville will look like? I don't think I've seen a drawing of the new buildings.

Edit: Oops ... meant to post this on the Huntsville forum. Maybe a moderator can move it.

Well, considering the Innovation Depot is a standout on it's own forthright then Birmingham technology based economy should be able to definitely gain some serious momentum. I believe what differentiates this investment from the other hubs is the sheer scale of this. Birmingham is mostly aiming towards technology startups, biomedical, and biotech. Also word is that the Southern (Research) Institute (SI) is going to be moving to the proposed innovation district so that SI can grow in size and to allow a direct fiber optic connection between it and the HudsonAlpha Institute. This will allow both facilities to exchange data on any biotech research.

Jero23... Repost from another tread?

That was me that posed the Infomart in Dallas. I don't really know what they do but I read several articles on it and it spoke highly of the Infomart's ability to attract business. It's a stunning building off I35 and I've wondered what it was for a while now.

We call it the Wedding Cake building.

That InfoMart in Dallas has been there for, like, decades.

The image of Facebook's Huntsville DC posted on the al.com (see Data Center Knowledge link below) announcement article is pretty close to what they have built in Forest City, North Carolina & Altoona, Iowa. There is currently one under construction in Ft. Worth, TX as well. A Google Map search of "Facebook Forest City Data Center" will point you in the right direction.

The Infomart building has been there for quite some time, and only a few months ago was purchased outright by one of it's tenant companies, Equinix.
