It was worth it. Otherwise, we could have potentially faced a nightmare once again like the I-22/65 interchange. And it is my understanding the Johnson Brothers spent a good part of that bonus on worker incentives to move the project along more quickly.

I know many metros have them, most actually. Many times it's because the city grew into the interstate causing it to become a town-splitter. I'm talking about the general trend over the past decade or so. We're looking at urban interstates differently now. I know that in Dallas, there's a big push to demolish I-345 which people feel encapsulate, segregate, or enclose too much of downtown. Granted every city had totally different dynamics!

Also, do you know of any parks under freeways? Probably are some.. I dont travel as much as you anymore so maybe they're a thing now. I think it's a great idea but never seen it work.
