So I found a tax estimator for counties such as St. Clair, Jefferson, etc. As we continue our land/home search it's looking like Jefferson county taxes are basically double other bordering counties. Wondering if this is accurate even with a homestead exemption?

Homestead exemption will exempt you from Jeff Co taxes just as with any other location. Most taxes in Jefferson county will be higher because there are more municipalities that have also have property taxes that will also be higher than those in smaller towns outside Jeff Co. Either way, property taxes in Jeff Co are still very low nationally speaking.
