Joe's Classic will be straight down State 52 from Chelsea, a great all-around Italian restaurant with pizza of course.
This same road will be your traffic free connection to the I-65, US31 corridors that encompass the things of life that you don't know that you need yet. For your budget and lifestyle, you should also look very seriously at Indian Springs Village. It lies along Cahaba Valley Road on the west end near the I-65 corridor which makes 280 irrelevant for you, and when you need something, it will not be a trip. It is not new suburbia but with lots that have various acreage and wide-open spaces, and it is not booming, no house looks like another. Most people build, but there is construction, so good timing can bring you a great house. In fact, all along Cahaba Valley you will find some really nice homes tucked far back from the road. I could spend all day encouraging you to look into it, so just do and save both of us the frustration.
Good fortune to you.

Thanks preguntas, I will look at Indian Springs Village, sounds like a very nice area. We would like new, but if we can find an established home that meets our needs that would also work.

I understand the new thing. However, most homes in Indian Springs are custom, so getting a well-cared for custom home can be a treat as long as the bones are right. A lot of newer construction is not quite as solid as what you would find there. New builds out there are fantastic.
After home schooling you may want to look into Indian Springs School as a very top choice in our region.

Yeah, check out Indian Springs for sure...we lived off Indian Crest and there are some nice houses with large property as well.. I also nominate Indian Springs School, it's a good private school...very much like a NE prep school I attended, which is saying a lot especially for many schools in AL.
