I haven't read anything to suggest she had any significant role on this endeavor. She is the hand picked successor to Shelby who was a very prominent senator responsible for lots of ear marks and pork brought to our state. Britt seems to be assuming his role and on her way to filling his shoes quite well. Most of the money they bring for defense sector projects go to Huntsville or Redstone and wouldn't be to any direct benefit for blue voting area like Birmingham, but there is enough private interest and local grass roots bipartisan effort to fuel this without her directly involving herself... or getting in the way of it. If it pans out and becomes a growing, thriving hub... I'm sure she'll take some credit for it.
