We’re looking into Helena. The school system looks to be good. I’m not exactly sure of any certain schools in Tuscaloosa, getting solid feedback has been tough so far.

Helena schools are very good. But that's a solid 1 hour drive (i.e. nearly 60 mile drive) to T-town, and it's not exactly easy to get out of Helena every morning. If you're cool with that, go for it.

I drive almost that currently. We really like the schools where we are at. It’s worth it to me. Schools are very important to me. My daughter is really focused on school thank God and she wants to maintain her honors status. I will continue to look into the Tuscaloosa area but so far we like Helena because it really reminds us of where we currently live.

I lived in Helena 20 years ago, and the traffic was terrible on county road 52/Morgan Road. My last visit there was last year, and it has grown a lot, but the road is the same. Commuting to Tuscaloosa would wear on you, IMHO.

I also lived in Tuscaloosa in the '80's. Schools seemed decent then (one son in elementary school), but times do change. If I was going to move back, I would look into what Northport schools have to offer.

If we were to live in Helena I wouldn't be driving all the way to Tuscaloosa. Based upon Google Maps the drive from Helena to the place of work is 35-40 minutes. I commute down I85 every day thru Greenville SC. In good traffic 40 minute commute, on a accident days 1-1.5hrs.

I will look further into Northport schools.
