Jake, as for the city of Boston I would watch out for parts of Mattapan, Roxbury, Roslindale and Dorchester. This doesn't go for ALL of the geographical areas of these places, as I know that there are so many "angry responders" to people's personal opinions. My opinions come from personal experience, witnessing crimes, keeping up with police and police logs, and crimes being committed ON myself or attempted crimes for that matter. For example I was attacked in Roslindale by four males and barely got away, thank god the police were nearby because I was not armed. Also, as for the state, parts of the major cities such as Lowell, Worcester and Springfield have gotten increasingly bad, as well as parts of Fall river have gotten worse over the years. I grew up in Worcester, and lately gang violence has gotten more prevelant(sp). This is especially true for the Vernon Hill area, as well as Main Street and parts of Park Ave. Great Brook Valley is one place I would definatly not recommend going at night especially.

Hope it helps, and sorry if I offended anyone, but really keep it to yourself these are opinions people.

The city of Boston already banned all soft drink; they should ban potato chip and chicharones too since they make people fat and die to soon

You mean there is no Diet Coke in Boston??????

Your question can be easily answered by simply observing where murders take place in Boston.

In all honesty, if you saw half the **** some people have seen you would not be blabbing about via the internet. It isnt cool to see someone die, or to see people shooting up heroin on the sidewalk, so stop trying to sound so ****ing awesome because you have "seen things". many of the posts regarding those things are from people who have seen absolutely nothing, and i can truly say that you do not want to see any of those "things". I dont care who glorifies it, and makes it sound cool, or makes it seem like you may have "cred", because it honestly is not fun to see things which one might see growing up in a low income community. and im sick of people generalizing the projects, saying that it is all black and hispanics, because it is not, and from the other projects around south boston which are now defunct, they were very mixed nationality, with the exception of old colony, and that was just when i was living there, now it is very culturally diverse. overall im sure many of the people posting on this thread are 15 year old kids from the suburbs who hear people sing songs about growing up in a **** environment, or read books about it, or saw the departed so they now try and act like they understand it. boston is a beautiful city with a lot to offer, you do not want to live in the public housing... and stop glorifying the crime which may or may not take place in the public housing developments, and talking your city up over another, every city has its bad area's. i apologize for ranting.
Well said. And you're right people watch the departed and think they know everything there is to know about this place.

$1300 a month? For 3 BR you'll need twice that in a decent neighborhood. Greater Boston has more than 7 million, there are well over 100 towns just in the core, and they all have different feel to them -- some tough, some sedate, some intellectual, some snobby anti-intellectual. If you need to live in the Boston area, you'll need to there and move around in it to get a feel for its different towns and neighborhoods. No two are quite alike. One warning. If you're a smoker, can't swim, can't shovel snow, don't take orders well from teen-aged girls, or carry a gun, DO NOT GO.
