I'm looking at an apartment that is further from the "T" station than I had hoped, so I was wondering if anyone has an opinion or advice about walking from the Richardson Park area in Dorchester to the JFK Station. It seems like a pretty good area, but can you walk down Mosely or Crescent, or should you stick to Dorchester Ave. and Columbia Road? Is it a bad idea to try this at night (I work late sometimes), or okay if you're smart about it? I'm young and female but don't want to have to spend a fortune on Uber just for work.

Save your Uber money, it's not the fanciest neighborhood by any means but it's as safe as can be.
You can walk to (and stagger from) The Banshee too!
Basic street smarts are indispensable, but don't feel compelled to walk with pepper spray in one hand or to take Krav Maga lessons or anything like that. The neighborhood has become very diverse and relaxed in recent times - White yuppies/guppies/academics mixed in among Vietnamese, West Indian, and Irish-American households. This wasn't always the case, but why go there? If it weren't for all the noise from the Red Line and expressway (those sound barriers are more psychological than anything) that area would've taken off so crazy that neither you nor I could afford to live there anyway. And no, I don't know why a street which travels in a perfectly straight line is called "Crescent," either. LOL

Thank you so much goyguy - I've seen your other posts on this forum so I can tell you know what you are talking about! I saw loads of people, including young women by themselves, walking to and from the "T" along Crescent so my sense was that it was ok, but it's so good to hear it from you. I really like the neighborhood and JFK is really well lit at night, so I'm glad we got this apartment. Thanks again for your reply!
