I'm trying to think how Sudbury/Lincoln (you want large green lawns?), Provincetown, and Hyannis can be thought of as good in the same way. Soooo different to me.

(I also didn't know there was a Framingham good)

Let me rephrase that.

Is there any white-collar neighborhoods in boston?

Of course. Beacon Hill and the South End for starters. There are others, but those are two of the more snazzy ones.

OP apparently you live in Wayland.. haven't you been to Boston ? the majority of city neighborhoods are largely white collar:

North End
Beacon Hill
South End
Back Bay
Charlestown
South Boston
West Roxbury
Most of Jamaica Plain
Most of Brighton
Most of Fenway
Parts of East Boston
Parts of Roslindale
Parts of Dorchester

the more common question is where in the urban core neighborhoods can average folks afford to raise a family?

In OPs defense, I kind of see what he's getting at. Most of the "where should I live" posts end up focusing much more time on the parts of town where you shouldn't live, or places that are marginal (some parts good, some parts bad). That's likely because no one ever comes on the board saying " I have a boatload of cash and want to know the best areas in the city of Boston to live." So very little time is spent recommending the Back Bay or Beacon Hill, etc.

The Back Bay area comes well before the South End traditionally.

Pretty and scenic?

Beacon Hill, the North End, BackBay, SouthEnd, Moss Hill, Arborway, Pond and JamaicaWay in Jamaica Plain, Riverway in Fenway, Ashmont Avenue in Dorchester, Bellevue Hill in West Roxbury, Roslindale along South and Walker Street
