I believe they are still required to live in the city for the first 7-10 years or so. I imagine they are living in the same neighborhoods they always did, but maybe more likely to rent now or stay with family/roommates for the first few years.

I believe it's 3-7 year's nowadays. But I think they still mostly live in the suburbs regardless of race. Nor do I think they avoid Hyde Park and Dorchester either.

Interesting.
Brazilians are always going to be an oddball. They should have been considered Latino but back when the term was introduced Latino = Mexicans. Then it just became a word for anyone speaking Spanish (including white Europeans from Spain). A very messy category in itself.

Cape Verdean may not consider themselves black in part for cultural reason too I assume. Same with Brazilians not being Latino or white or black.

Yeah. over 40% of the city is white, I don't see why some of these cannot be cops..

There is a BPD seargeant who got an OUI the other day. He made 247k last year...a little more than 100k

https://www.boston.com/news/crime/20...drunk-driving/

They're required to live in the city for the first 10 years of service and they have to live in boston 1 year before they can even apply to be a boston cop

Yeah this proves that some of the undercount were students.

And me. I went home in March... and filled out the census in NC. My friends went back home to RI, NJ and various Boston suburbs and did the same. I can confirm it was undercounted by at least 7! lol

If you are away temporarily you are supposed to list the permanent residence.
