I mean, My first thought would be to re-open the Long Island treatment facility as a better equipped and up to date treatment center. If not Long Island, than something similar.

They already got plans to reopen that, including the construction of a new bridge.

Not really, They are "talking about it" at this stage. Quincy has the final. And they don't want to play ball.

Incorrect. Quincy has pretty much played all of its cards and lost all appeals. It's gonna happen.

The bulk of the money should go to treatment services. Front line, boots on the ground treatment and direct outreach. Prevention is also a necessary component but that money should come from the general education and public health budgets in my opinion. Priority right now is expanding treatment especially those that focus on the long term goal of abstinence. Treatment works, when done effectively.

They need to look at this organization

https://trosainc.org/

Of course nothing is guaranteed, but they have a good system in place (not sure if Covid affected it)

2-4-6 months is not enough for most addicts. It should be at least 2 years program with rewards, education and work. State of NC helps them, but most money come from businesses they run. Some people stay after the course as counselors.

I agree with all points above. There are many different paths to recovery, It's not a one size fits all. But the first step is to stop De-humanizing it and understand this population needs help. The incarcerating thing has been tried for what? 5 decades? how did that go? We have the money. We just need to start voting for people who spend it on stupid s***
