"The proposed mixed-use development calls for the creation of attractive, energy-efficient commercial and residential buildings. Commercially, the project revives the legendary Doyle’s Café, guided by the award-winning Brassica Kitchen and Café team of Jamaica Plain, and expands the Washington Street storefront with a new 4,178 SF urban grocery market addition on the Washington and Gartland Street corner. "

This is great news. Glad to see these projects are going on. I hope the Drinking Fountain development will also get an updated small bar too.

I await the "that's not going to be same, it's just some yuppie restaurant the locals can't afford" in 3-2-1.

I think this is a good example of making it "better"
The original Doyle's was huge and never really full unless there was an event. The menu was outdated and needed a refresh. Maybe they'll even include live entertainment, which will make that block of JP a fun place again with the Midway always booking fun shows.

You seem very optimistic.

I am. Brassica is fantastic. this looks like a very well thought out development with a much needed grocery store in that area. What are your doubts?

Didn't say I had doubts, just wondering what sets this aside from other stuff like this (like old institutions being brought back to life) that we get promised all the time. Guess you kind of answered that.

Yeah. The grocery is huge. Brassica is a plus. Entertainment is a wish.
