But again- white people do not want it to happen and they get to determine what black people deserve and dont deserve, as has been the case since day 1. Theres absolutely no shame or remorse among white people for any of it so...its moot.
What a sad reply.

Might I add a different take...

How many people in Boston today who's taxes will undoubtedly go up and pay for this had descendants who even lived in Boston during any time slavery existed there?

Do we add the Irish who were treated like trash and forced to live in slums in the 1800's because they were looked at as sub human?

Italians who were discriminated against for the better part of the early 1900's if only because they were different and didn't know the English language?

I could go on and on. If you were to say that instead of a "guilty payoff" to eradicate what occurred 200 years ago that maybe we should invest in better schooling in all aspects of education to lift those held back so they may achieve success and have a brighter future... then I would sign on in a minute. But to ask for a handout that would do nothing for the future of a race and just allow politicians and "guilt ridden liberals" to throw money at a group but not attempt to lift them up... nope, not supported by me.

"No shame and remorse among white people"... that's insulting in so many ways that's it's just pure disgusting.

+1

I can't fathom how I'm responsible for something white people in the south did in the 1800's. None of my ancestors are from there and the same could be said for many. This is really not a white people issue, it's a black people issue at this point.

Worst part is this kid has admitted to being privileged himself, having graduated from the elite Roxbury Latin. Everybody needs that "free" money though.

Right. Roxbury Latin. What a rough life he's had.

one of the most liberally run states in the country, I see this as somewhat likely. Most politicians seem to approve it.

And my immigrant parents from a WW2 torn country could only afford to send me to a FREE trade school to get out of the Boston Public mess. Looks like we'll be both on the hook for this bill. Makes a ton of sense.

Well since Boston is only 44% non-Hispanic white I don't see a problem.
I am sure Asians and Hispanics strongly support this so that's over 50%

My immigrant parents live in Boston. Mom (72) is still working full time and paying high taxes and co-pays for dads long stays in hospitals... and noticing that city is getting not as clean as it used to be. So money are definitely an issue. Yet, it is a rich city that can pay such amounts.

seems like so much of the city's money goes to poor people/migrants/drug addicts these days. Now perhaps it'll go to slave reparations. No need to spend it on the roads or the MBTA *eyeroll*
