Here's the deal my god sister an I are graduating this year from high school and we plan to move away from home and thought Boston would be a good place to move too. Trouble is we’ve never been to Boston don't know anyone from Boston. We don't know where to start looking for apartments, jobs, etc. We wannna live somewhere close to the city. Preferably somewhere close to a Beauty School and a College carrying Child Physcology.

Help!!!!

We dont know where to begin

Well if you live close to Boston you'll be in close range to many schools and universities. Living in Boston can be expensive (maybe $1600/mo for a 2 bedroom- I think that's conservative). SO you may want to live on the fringes, which are slightly less. What's your rent range and I think we can help with cities and towns that can fit that.

Boston is a nice city however, it is expensive why I left. There are many towns which make up Boston, there is also great transportation into the city. Even Plymouth would be cheaper, and has transportation into the city. Check out Roslindale, West Roxbury. People even live on Cape Cod and take the bus into the city daily. Braintree Quincy are also near and would be way cheaper.

judy

I think you would make research for renting apartment first. You may check this website for all the luxury apartment rentals in Boston Area. It has a very extensive list along with locations on google map. The contact phones and email addresses have also indicated.

You can also check with the Boston MBTA Subway map in the website .

Speaking of jobs, I would check out employment with Verizon. This is a big company with good pay and benefits. They also would help you with your education. You could go to the VZ web site and see what they have. With only high school it will be hard to get a really high paying job in Boston.

judy

You always could work during the day and go to school nights.

Just a word about timing. If you do not have an apartment in Boston by mid-August, I would say Good luck! Over 100K students show up at the end of August. Dorms are over booked, Universities are putting some kids at area hotels (these are kids promised a dorm). Rental listing coming out at 10am is gone by 11am. Since I think you guys are high school kids, they may not even rent it to you without your parents co-signing.

A friend of mine got an apartment in Brookline with parking $3K/month 4 years ago. First, last and deposit will need a check for $9K. Of course, her parents covered it all. :-) What nice parents!!
