Hello All,

What is I90 like from Seattle to Bozeman? I see on google maps that it does go thru the mountains. Possibly driving my Hyndai Tucson SUV. It does have 4x4 and lifted it has decent clearance. Is this a hard route? Thoughts?

Thanks! Dave

It's a great drive, with lots of gain in elevation and several Mt passes. Unless, there is a storm right before or while you are driving. Not many options for you though. Just be prepared for the weather, have an emergency kit (you can look that up online), and give yourself extra time to account for slow driving or road closures if needed. Likely it will be fine as long as you drive safely and your vehicle is prepped for the trip.

It's an interesting drive. Especially in WA state when you get east of the Cascades and the climate becomes semi-arid.

There's a nice little restaurant in a town called Ellensburg (I think Central Washington University is there) called the "Red Pickle". Really good food, I particularly liked the Wasabi Fries!

Coeur D'Alene in Idaho is a nice place to stop in and drive through too,

It's part of the Interstate system. Good road, mostly two-lane each way, easily traveled. Only time it is "hard" is over the passes during a raging snowstorm,.

Consider when the OP actually asked the question... February 2021, not August 2022 .

But, as often pointed out in various forums, the topic can come in handy for members looking for similar info.

Re: Ellensburg: I hear that Vinman's Bakery is great for roadtrip carbs.
