I'm looking into a used (German) car that I'd like to take to a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection but I'm new to the area and don't know of any good mechanics. Rather than blindly pick one out of the phone book I figured I'd ask for suggestions.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Horror stories?

I had a good experience with the guy at Intensive Car at the corner of Durston/Peach and 7th. I think he deals mainly with imports, too. I've also heard great things about a guy named Andy over by the new DMV.... not sure about his experience with imports though. Good luck!

Also a little shop on the corner of Willson and Mendenhall, Straightaway Motors. Have a friend who works there, he wouldn't if they weren't a decent shop.

Try Intensive Car, we were traveling thru Bozangeles and our Honda Civic started to act up. Craig at Intensive Car had us going again in less time then it took us to get back from WalMart. Great service, nice guy too.

Foster's Mastertech. I can't say enough about these guys. I've dealt with them loads since I refuse to let my old clunker die! They are always fair, pleasant, and reasonably priced, and they have been in Bozeman forever. I was so glad i picked to go here and not one of the 'big dogs'! I love to support montana businesses.
