Stop thinking non-profit and think tax exempt. Any business, even a church, can be non-profit if expenses exceed revenues.

OTOH, people start churches and charities so they don't have to pay taxes.

Even a church will have to register with the IRS. There will always be red tape. And your activities will be scrutinized by the IRS to make sure your revenues are appropriately supporting your charitable aims.

Hi everybody....I now realize I dont have the expertise and skills needed to come up with a book and line of products.I think I may just be a bi-vocational minister rather than this business idea.

I think that's the best option for you.

BTW - Dave Ramsey claims that he is a Christian who uses the Bible to guide his finances and business. I think it may be hard to compete against him on a Christian ministry basis.

There are LOTS and LOTS of these and they are VERY similar. essentially MLM (bring more friends for cost reduction of your own 'benefits'(?)

Just spent 2 days talking a recent widow down from joining a Christian Financial Literacy program (She'd already dropped $20k and attended a 3 day workshop. Supposedly they will refund, fortunately her late spouse was a lawyer (with surviving friends).

I researched for hours (though it was pretty clear of their 'services' and testimonies.)
Not a scam, just the vulnerable being 'conveniently deceived' the 'Christian' / any religion way of scamming.

There were no credentials of principle counsellors
The testimonies were as 'emotional' and improbable as usual. From Pauper to Profits (and Prophets) in 3 easy steps.

"We don't work with unbelievers and those who question our ordained spiritual leadership or purpose."

"If you don't 'Believe', don't bother."

"If you decline, we'll pray FOR your deceitful spirit"

...

Nothing new
Nothing of value
No proof of sustained success (several prior ministry associations of leadership, now defunct)

Too bad these exist, as there are a lot of 'broke' and vulnerable people of faith (all faiths).

I am sorry to hear about your widow friend but I do think Dave Ramsey has done a lot of good for finances in the Christian community.

Yes, indeed... For those who are financially illiterate, or need someone to hold them accountable, or to hold their hand... it's fortunate they have a Ramsey type advocate (not without error / poor advice).

Ramsey is legit, and does does not operate a 'Christian' scam (Tax exempt for 'profit').
How much does Dave Ramsey's program cost?
Regular price is $129.99 annually, however, FREE for qualified Beehive members. Limited number of memberships available; Beehive checking account, with a minimum of 5 monthly transactions, required. 12-month Ramsey + Digital Membership includes Financial Peace University, Every Dollar Premium App, and more.

He's helped millions.

Too bad our USA culture allows people to 'grow-up' illiterate. But Ramsey can be a safety net for those with a financial education need.

Hairy mess.
"Christian financial literacy." Is that anything like "Christian counseling?" "Christian Chemistry?" "Christian Engineering?"

Financial Literacy is Financial Literacy is Financial Literacy.
There are laws against USURY, which is charging EXCESSIVE interest or fees. Of course the churches all condemn it. But all of the department store credit cards charge usurious interest, if you carry a balance. So, it's illegal, but the stupid gummint looks the other way in those cases, just like with Payday Loan Sharks.
