Financial Literacy is Financial Literacy is Financial Literacy.
There are laws against USURY, which is charging EXCESSIVE interest or fees. Of course the churches all condemn it. But all of the department store credit cards charge usurious interest, if you carry a balance. So, it's illegal, but the stupid gummint looks the other way in those cases, just like with Payday Loan Sharks.
True, but if you're financially literate, you likely won't be paying the excessive interest or fees because you'll be paying off the balance monthly anyway. It's neat how that works.

The sad part is that people need someone like Dave Ramsey to tell them that. His good advice could fit on a single piece on paper, and more than half of it is obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense. He's just figured out a way to sell it for $13 per month because there are so many people out there without the common sense or the impulse control to employ it.
