Los Angeles has 3.9 million people, 9 million county-wide. That's a lot of people. It's a youngish population with a lot of immigrants like yourself. You won't have any problem meeting people anywhere in L.A.

If you only want to meet women who look like actresses, you would only impress them by having a lot of money yourself, and living in an expensive place like Beverly Hills.

If you are searching for a job here try the monster.com site and look up specific Los Angeles jobs..

P.S., do you know how much it costs to live here? It's really expensive, even by European and Baltic standards.

Slovenian ~ If you have an MBA, MSW or are degreed in general professional or medical fields, you won't have a problem finding employment. I thoroughly enjoyed working at USC (though you wouldn't want to live around there), so try there or other academic instutitions. You might also try Disney (Burbank), and other "entertainment" based companies. If a paraprofessional in Accounting, etc., try hospitals or downtown businesses. Los Angeles is a place of many "eateries". The restaurant business is big. If this is your gig, you can do well if you fins the right niche. You'd be amazed at the tips (alone) staff can pull at places like Crustacean or Lawry's Prime Rib or even a well-placed Starbucks. P.S. I think the young girls are not as shallow as to only be impressed by $$$ and certain addresses. Morals and values still count for something!

I think you will love it in LA and feel very at home. Is a very diverse city and you will encounter many other expatriates from Europe, Asia, and Central America. There is also lots to do and see from a recreational and entertainment standpoint. It's truly one of the most dynamic and exciting places on the planet.

you can move to santa monica, marina del rey. They will cost about 200-300 less and be closer to LA.

I checked craigslist and a 1 bedroom in Santa Barbara was about $1500 and Malibu was anywhere from $1900 (for a guesthouse) to $3500 for a 1 bedroom in a 4 unit building. You may be able to find something cheaper but this gives you an idea. Is there any particular reason why you chose these 2 cities? They are two of the more costly beach cities to live in plus they are 65 miles apart. Something to take into consideration if you have to commute to/from a job. Southern California is not known for great public transportation. A far cry from most European cities.
Good luck in your search
