What's your guess on the 2011 snowbirds headed to FL in RV's? Do you think the economy downturn and high gas will have some people staying home? In 2009 the RV parks were packed, in 2010 there were plenty of vacancies for last minute travelers. Any opinions?
The economy has kept us from retiring. We were set to go full-time a couple years ago and had to put the brakes on it. I'm sure I'm not the only one affected. That said, if we were retired and full-timing, I don't think the recession would be affecting us too much. Fuel prices are meaningless when you're talking about traveling a few thousand miles and staying there wall winter long.
It hasn't affected us in retirement either. Last year we booked our trip early and found there were a lot of bargains and vacancies, after we arrived in the Keys. With the latest hit on the stock market it will be interesting to see occupancies and rates this year.
