I had no idea Boise was so low! 2800'
El Paso is 3800'

Enjoy the Airstream Class B. I tried a few Sprinters out before buying my Rialta (1/2 the price). Sprinter conversion vans were only $58k at the time... They were my first choice, but didn't think I needed the extra capital expense since I was 'retiring' pre age 50 and LOTS of health insurance to buy.

I use this site quite a bit, but I usually 'stealthcamp'. http://freecampgrounds.com/

I prefer camping a few days on a farm as a worker.

I too live in Austin ,have an oxygen/altitude concern, and am planning a trip to Portland. Here is an easy route. Take I35 to KC then I29 to I94 then west. Surprisingly, There is nothing on I94 that is over 6,000 feet and that is a very short haul. At Billings I94 turns into I90and it is downhill from there.

Why not just skip I-94 and get on I-90 at Sioux Falls SD? Also there is a lot of up hill after Billings. I have taken that route many times and will be again very soon.

And it would save having to drive across North Dakota.

Nothing near 6K in altitude along this route.
.

I drive this route every year.....except take at Tri-Cities head towards I-90 and Snoqualmie Pass.

US 93 is a great road. It is getting more and more crowded these days. Back in 78 I saw 10 cars driving all day.
