Beautiful Northern Lights tonight south of Winnipeg, to the north, south, east, west, and directly overhead. Seen in spite of the light pollution. Cheered my heart on an uncheery day.
Gorgeous and so fortunate to see the lights in all directions at once.
When the picture is magnified it looks like there are several spaceships sitting there hiding behind the screen of northern lights.
Not to worry, I know it must be some stars shining through, but it really looks like UFO's in the picture.

Man I hope so. The way things are going on this planet hopefully they are a benevolent species here to show us the way and save us... from our own stupidity

I've seen them before in this way, where they are dancing in every direction. My husband said his father was afraid of the lights. They really are awe-inspiring and before science took the magic away, I can see how people might see them as frightening. I hadn't seen them in a while as there is so much light pollution but my sister took some great photos a few years ago when they were low on the northern horizon.
There have been northern lights across the prairies in the last couple of days. There was a fantastic video someone made of the lights above Edmonton.
