I have been a lifelong fan.

If they make a movie about him, what actor would you cast for the part? It may likely take two actors for early and later years. This is a difficult task due to the actor needing to look like Gordon, have the presence and personality, and a rich baritone singing voice.

So far I'm drawing blanks, but my mind keeps probing. Here is a link to the "Mycast" page where they suggest actors to play an older Gordon. Not really sure on any of them, but I think of the group Johnny Depp, Jeff Bridges, Kurt Russel or Gary Oldman would be the best picks.

Not on the Mycast list, but Christopher Guest, who played Nigel Tufnel in "This Is Spinal Tap" might be another suggestion.

Loved his music and still do. I have a long commute and I'm glad to have some of his songs to keep me company.

I have probably 40-50% of his music on my iPhone.

His music inspired me to learn to play guitar. Not sure there's a greater gift than to be someone's inspiration.

One of my favorites:

Also The Six-Fingered Man in The Princess Bride, and Harlan Pepper in Best In Show, which he also co-wrote with Eugene Levy and directed.

Why not a Canadian actor?

But thinking it over, Jamie Foxx has enormous talent, personality and presence (much like Gordon). I honestly could not rule him out for any potential role. Where you thinking of leaving him as a man of African descent/color and expanding on the "inclusiveness" trend patterned after the Broadway play "Hamilton" or the TV series "Bridgerton"? Or sending him off to makeup and wardrobe to play the role as a caucasian?

Also, you would likely need two actors to cover the young and older Gordon, who would be your "early years" pick?

Talented man indeed!

I thought the same thing, but my brain is still on "search" mode to think of one. If you come up with anyone please suggest.

It's a tough assignment. Gordon had so much depth, personality and talent, and was a unique "one of a kind" songwriter and performer that seemingly had never come before, and well likely will never come again.

A few more "suggestions", but honestly their a stretch at best...

Andrew Lincoln ( Rick Grimes on "Walking Dead")
Billy Bob Thornton
Sam Elliott
