I opened my iOS Canada Post app today to track a parcel and discovered a new service called MyMail is being offered for snail mail. Here’s information about it on the Canada Post website:

Know what’s coming your way. There’s no need to check an empty mailbox again.
Get timely updates through the app, in your (email) inbox or both.
Through MyMail, we’ll update you about incoming LettermailTM, Personalized MailTM and Neighbourhood MailTM.
Certain mail types are not included yet, but are planned to be, including magazines, catalogues, and oversized mail (with dimensions exceeding 245 mm x 156 mm x 5 mm). We also won’t be able to notify you of personal mail, like a postcard from a friend.

I signed up by signing in with my Canada Post userid and password. Canada Post already has my street address info.
The app now shows I currently have two items items in transit - general mail and advertising (HelloFresh). There is a separate tab to list items which have been delivered.
The Welcome email I received clarifies the type of lettermail covered:
Quote:
Lettermail* (e.g. bills, account updates, and general correspondence from businesses and organizations)
Mail containing promotions and special offers*
*This includes mail that is both addressed to you and can be sorted by our automated equipment

I usually only clear my mailbox once or twice a week so I think I’ll find this service rather useful.
