I have a Samsung Galaxy Phone and recently added someone to the reject list on my phone. But I discovered when I add someone to the reject list the person can still leave a message. So what exactly is the point of the reject/block list if they can still leave a message? Or is there a way to remove the voicemail so that someone can't leave a message?

I noticed that they can still send text messages as well. What's up with that?

Looks like it's a pointless feature

I too have a Samsung Galaxy phone, and have about 30 numbers to dodge.
I agree it would be nice to have an additional "Don't go to voice mail" and "Don't accept text message" settings, but the rejection part is very useful.

In addition to the Reject List, I also established one contact that I use for all the phone numbers I reject.
When I get a new incoming call or text that I want to block from now on, I'd 'add it to an existing contact'. And that contact (I named z_DodgeCalls so it alphabetizes to the bottom), is set for Ringtone=Silent, Messaage alert=Silent, Vibration Pattern=Silent. That way, there is zero interruption and the only indication is via Status Line.

RE: VoiceMail; My experience is that the majority of callers on my list won't be bothered to leave a message. And the ones that do still don't interrupt me, but just show up as a Rejected Call and VoiceMail Waiting on my status line. So it's obvious that when I listen to VM, I'll expect to delete it without having to go through it all. (Ditto text messages).

.guess it's better to use the t mobile Block feature which prevents texting and calling but I don't want to pay the $6.00 again

I use 'Call Control' on my LG Nexus 4. I don't remember whether it's free or I got it on a 'free' day. It allows you to select the level of rejection for various phone numbers.

What's a free day?

So, let me ask a dumb question, if a message is sent why can't you just delete it without bothering to read it? If you select a ring tone that is silent, you won't be bothered, but you will still know they tried to reach you, and that doesn't mean you have to do anything about it except delete it.

The fact that the person still has the option to leave a message decreases the appeal of the reject list feature

Receiving a text message, even if silently, is still a hassle because you'd still pay for it.
