Here is a little update on this project. They are encouraging public comments until April 15. They have more specifically stated some of the projects (which have already been speculated), but appear to be pushing for an overpass.

If I was designing this thing, this is how I'd make it look. With an overpass at the entrance of the Tech Park too, and a new on and off ramp on 64. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid...006638,0.01545

I have to agree that an overpass over the railroad tracks is crucial.

Another option could be to dig a trench for the railroad tracks to put the trains lower than the surface traffic.

Aeros, you'd have to dig a long trench! Trains can't handle a grade separation of that nature and need a much more gradual change. I'm confident those in charge know how crucial an overpass is and will get it done.

Yeah, the trench would be long, I was thinking the deepest part would only have to be for that area around the Jefferson Road area. Just throwing that out as an option.

To build the trench you would have to shut down the rail line, which isn't an option. That line in vital to the coal industry, so I doubt that could work. Overpass is the only reasonable idea.

Besides that, you'd be digging the trench right down into Davis Creek. Probably not a good place to build a railroad.

Not sure what Morgantown has to do with a road in Charleston, or the Boondoggle Tech facility either?
It's really nice that you are getting this new road, although to tell you the truth I have never had to spend more than 15 minutes to get from one part of Charleston to another.

With all do respect, CT, I imagine you have a limited experience with Jefferson Road. It's an absolute nightmare. The rest of the area isn't all that bad, save for rush hour traffic. But that road is always terrible.
