I'm a black female relocating to Charlotte at the end of Jan and am looking for some good places to bartend. By good I mean upscale, in the city, consistent volume and clientele and most importantly GOOD TIPPERS!!! Anyone have some suggestions?

hey, i moved here in sept from nyc without a bartending job and it took me a few months to finally find something. i found that here, most places promote from within for their bartending needs. i'm used to places hiring bartenders separately from servers thinking that an establishment would rather have the most experienced/knowledgeable bar person handling their bar. not the case in charlotte. i served at a few places and found something at epicentre. i would check that out because a few places are opening in the next few months. i know there is an upscale lounge/plush kind of bowling alley opening with a dance floor and dj. there's a wild wing cafe (not upscale, but volume) as well in the beginning of '09. i'd hit up craigslist, though i recently learned that bars cut back staff here in the winter. of course, there's always the "hit the bricks" mentality of going from place to place and hoping that you have great luck and great timing.
