I am an artist and former k-12 art teacher considering recertification. After looking at potential towns to relocate to in TN. Out of all the places I have looked at so far I like the Chattanooga area. It has lots of greenery and nature and seems to have a great art scene. But the downside is unlike Nashville and Memphis they don't seem to have a need for hiring new teachers, especially art teachers in K-12. So if I can't teach full-time I need a plan B. Ideally, I'd like to live in the country and work at home and come into the city to teach art to kids and adults after school. I'd also like to get involved with the local scene, through exhibiting my work and maybe even running a space of my own someday or art school. Are there any rural/country areas where I could find a decent 2-3 bedroom house for $500 or $600 a month? If so where can I look as far as papers and websites? I really like Cleveland but would accept anything 40 minutes max from Chattanooga.

L.S.A. ; We have no first hand info with the Hamilton county education system.. they are in the newspaper each month , & direction is always a subject... Only a few weeks ago it was reported or voted that the board would hire teachers nationally thru a recruitment educational organization... I could not find the name tonight.
Here is a LINK for re-location https://chattanoogaresourceandrelocation.com/ there is a section for education.
Also each day one can read the local newspaper web edition. Timesfreepress.com Maybe one of their contacts can find the latest school board minutes.

I doubt one can find houses to rent in the $500 / 600 range. in Hamilton county. We are in a big business / construction boom in this region.... Just to the north is RHEA county which covers small city DAYTON.... There is employment coming with the big construction of Nokem (?) tire co.

Have you apply or consider the private school systems that have tuition students. . High rated academies here.

Thanks for the info. I would consider any school that would be willing to hire me as an art teacher.
