Hi,

I am not originally from Tennessee, but have lived in Athens, TN the last 20 years.

All of my Drs are in Chattanooga, and transportation has become a big problem for me.

I would like to move to Chattanooga with my male companion, (we are seniors), and our 2 little 8 pound dogs. We would prefer to rent as we cannot physically maintain a home/yard anymore.

We are looking for an area that is safe, affordable, and somewhat close to CHI hospital.

I am not familiar with Chattanooga as I don't get out much.

If anyone can recommend an area, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thankyou.

Have you looked into a retirement community? There's an excellent one I know of in the Lee Highway/Hickory Valley Rd. area. You may see benefit in making a move to a place like that.

Second the retirement community if you have the funding to purchase instead of rent. Maintenance is done by the community and paid for out of HOA fees (one of the few beneficial uses of an HOA, and the HOA can't complain if you don't cut your grass if they're supposed to be cutting it). Some retirement communities will have shuttles available for residents, especially for hospital trips.

You probably don't want to live right near CHI Memorial itself... it isn't in the best neighborhood with respect to crime.

Since transportation is a driving factor, and if where you land doesn't have hospital shuttles, then here are the maps for CARTA:
