thanks, we are doing the same search that you are... At first we thought of looking for a rental to test out the waters, but the rent is so high on most of the homes for what you are getting. I know people are making decent money off the rentals (yahoo!) but trying to find a home and an area that completes w/ what we have now in NC, only makes me want to go out a buy and if Chatt. isn't the place for us then we'll rent it too. (agents, please don't contact me!!) I've been looking at Hidden Lakes, Windstone? I'll have to check out Ridgeside... It concerns me a little that most people are taking there kids to private schools though. Dosen't sound like the public schools for that area are the best? Any other opinions or search options would be greatly appreciated.

Checked out house prices in Ridgeside and they've really gone up since OP posted. There are no retail stores so where do people shop?

Are there any single people or apartments?

Your home is beautiful! I really appreciate this post. I'm in the initial stages of negotiating for a position in the area, and your post has been incredibly helpful. Thank you for taking the time to post and for putting yourself out there for potential criticism of your "bellybutton." =)

Shop: They drive. Everyone there is rich enough to own a car. If not, Brainerd Rd. is very close.
Single People: Don't know, probably not many. At least not many young and single.
Apartments: Absolutely not. Wouldn't fit in with the "vibe". The only thing there are largish single-family houses. There are apartments not too far away down the hill, inside Chattanooga city limits.
