Thanks, I think I am going to go the way I know....out to 294, to 80 west and then I 57.....
I am just not a city driver, on Monday, will be going around 1 PM, coming back Tues around 3..
have now ruled out Cicero, as I now hear it goes through rough areas...

and do not want I 94 as it seems to have slowdowns all the time....have used 294 before, I guess that is what I will stick with....I am in Glenview

If I were you, I would get off I-294 at 159th street WEST. Go through Markham and jump on I-57 SOUTH from there. This way you will bypass the 167th street toll.

Yes, right before it.

Thanks, Jackfrog! If I go on 294 ( which I probably will) I will try that.... If you were in my shoes, would you just take 94 to 57? It is closer for me to go on 94, but seems like I hear about bad traffic on there...is it worse than 294? Honestly, I have not been on 94 south for a long time, though have gone on 94 north with no problems....

I'd take I-94.

Now I have changed my mind again! To get to 57 ( midday) I will take LSD ( Lake Shore Drive, not the drug!)
coming back the next day, around 3, I may take 94 straight up.....Thanks for ALL your help!

Can I go down Cicero and pick up 57 WAY below the city????
294 south to 55 inbound to La Grange Road south. Take La Grange Road to 80 east to 57 south. This will avoid all the construction everywhere! La Grange (45) is basically a small freeway with decently timed signals all the way to 131st Street.

I have traveled 294 a lot during the construction. I would NOT go through downtown on I-94 at 3PM. I would go 294 up to Willow. North on 294 in the afternoon up to Willow is very tolerable and it moves. 94 through downtown and you will have a 5-15 minute stop and go wait before the "spaghetti bowl" AND it is slower than normal because of the ramp construction north of 290/Congress.

This has too many traffic lights in Orland Park to save any time!
