Hello,

I am looking to buy on Artesian Ave between North ave and Division ave. I previously lived and rented on Augusta and Hermitage and before that Western and Wabansia. I was just wondering if moving a few blocks would be dramatically different in terms of saftey and the demographics. I did notice some more section 8 housing sparsed around some pretty nice newer and older condos but that is also around the areas I have lived before. Also what neighborhood is this considered? I have heard west town, west bucktown/wicker park, humboldt park, etc. The zip is the same zip code as my Wicker Park apartment. Any help would be great. Thanks!

The neighborhood is Humboldt Park. I happen to live on Campbell between North and Division which is one block west of where you are looking. I don't think you really have anything to worry about. I have lived here 3 years now and the past year and a half have been perfect. We had some petty property crime 2 years ago, but nothing since that time.

At the present time my biggest problem is this God d*mn squirrel that keeps digging holes in my planters and is making a mess of the cushions on my deck. D*mn him!

Anyway, I recommend checking the area out at a few different times of day. I'm comfortable here, but no place is for everyone. I'm 29 and female, btw. Oh, and edited to add that we own a single family house here, so we're not going anywhere anytime soon...
