In case you hadn't realized it the US is not a socialist/communist state. Free housing is in short supply in NYC (and every other place).

It's put up or shut up time for Lightfoot. She and her posse like bragging about being a sanctuary city and how well they "think" they're running it. Abbott has only begun shipping the overflow to her.

The fact that they don't speak English greatly reduces their ability to be useful employees. Employers also want people who are trained and experienced in the jobs they are hiring for. Are schools even equipped to handle all these extra people? These migrants sure weren't paying property taxes to cover the costs of schooling. They will basically be living in poverty in Chicago and draining public resources since the cost of living is so high.

Not really true in Chicago at least. There are hundreds of thousands of Spanish speakers. And there are countless restaurants and hotels that need workers. Construction contractors need laborers, etc.

CPS has lost tens of thousands of students over the last few years. It can easily handle more kids. Once these people rent an apartment they contribute to properly taxes like every other renter household.

Uh, what? Property is a fixed asset. The owner pays property taxes whether a unit is occupied or not.

Either we're a nation of laws or we're not. If we are, they shouldn't be here, period -- either in Texas OR Chicago. If we're not, then our republic is in trouble.

Durpie22, good morning. I hear you on language being an issue.

And I am prepared to make a comment that MAY not sit well with folks. So please reply, in whichever direction you feel...

Keep in mind that I am part Mexican. My great grandparents came from Mexico here, via Texas, and then to Milwaukee.

I have, among other things, taught ESL to people from Latin America.

The reason: I want them to feel more comfortable and prepared in this new country, the same as my great grandparents wanted for their family, and the migrant workers they hosted.

The United States is huge. Why limit yourself to certain neighborhoods in Chicagoland???? Your world can be SO much bigger and unlimited. There ARE resources to learn English.

WHY limit yourself? 100 years ago the Italians, Poles, Germans, etc were limited based on a neighborhood with common language. Look at them NOW!

Wishing all a great Friday, and Labor Day weekend!

"restaurants and hotels". So as I already said, they will be living in poverty and draining public resources. As far as construction, most of that is union in Chicago and only a few trades employ non english speakers.
