Thought of taking a vacation in Chicago during this period or Canada or NYC during this period. I cannot seem to know what there is seriously to see or do in there during this period. We are not big museum fans.... some is ok. We like museums in Washington DC or NYC museum. Any suggestions to sites? Navy Pier is close during this Dec period... so not sure what there is in there.... any Circue du Soleil shows there?

Navy Pier usually has a winter festival there during that time.
Daley Center has an outdoor festival with vendors and crafts.
Millenium Park has ice-skating.

Rosemont usually holds their RadioCity Rockettes show.

There is a Cirque du Soleil show during that week.

That week is likely one of the busiest of the year in indoor event options. Plenty of live music/theatre/eating/drinking to be done during that time.

Don't forget the windows on State St. and the Christmas tree at Macy's. Tea at the restaurant inside Macy's at the foot of the tree.

3 of my neighbors dance for the Joffrey Ballet. If they're in town, you should try to go see a performance. Excellent. ( you don't even have to be a dance or ballet fan, it's just an interesting experience)
