Snowfall is hit or miss most years, I remember in the 80s and 90s, we would get at least 1 or 2 BIG snow events each winter, (8 + inches), but that is rare today, most snows are 1-3"...

But when it comes to COLD temps...be prepared for LONG periods of cold! (not just a few days, when a system hits it tends to stay put for a long time here)...same thing in summer time too, we may get a couple, few days when humidity is low and temps in the 70s in summer, but high humidity and heat race back very quickly.

Imo, the weather in this area is HORRIBLE! ( I believe this is one of the reasons why cost of living is so cheap as well).

Depends on how many inches this snow can stay on the ground for several days. Live close to work so if needs be you can walk to work or home as not to get caught in stopped traffic due to snow or ice on the hills. You will enjoy all the beauty of snow without any of the headaches if you live close to where you work.

As long as you dress properly and drive defensively (leave plenty of space between your car and the car in front of you as to have adequate braking distance) winter is nothing to be afraid of.
Interesting as I remember when I was in Dayton it seemed whenever we had snow coworkers in Cincinnati area were getting freezing rain/sleet instead.

I remember in the 1990's and early 2000's that if you lived in the southern part of the Cincinnati area as in Kentucky such as the Airport and beyond you will get freezing rain that will ice up at night. I had co workers living in the Kentucky part of the Cincinnati metro that worked with me in Corryville not get able to leave their streets for about a week at a time due to iced up hilly roads impossible to drive on.

I forget which snowstorm it was, or when, but Kentucky had closed I-71/75 through the Cut in the Hill for several days. One of the local news stations was interviewing stranded truck drivers; one of them was from my hometown, Erie, Pa., which often leads the nation in snowfall each winter for cities over 100,000 population. This truck driver was livid! LOL He couldn't understand why the road was closed because it didn't look that bad to him. I laughed and laughed ...
