The developers behind the residential conversion of the Carew Tower are working on reopening the observation deck on the 49th floor to the public. This deck has been closed to the public since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025, though hours of operation and pricing have not been revealed. Hopefully, the deck will be wheelchair accessible and have an admission price of $10-15. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/new...k/72412365007/

We used to go downtown when I was a kid. See a movie at the Albee and go to the top of the Carew Tower to fly paper airplanes. On a good day we could get them to cross the river

I believe there was never a charge.

There has always been a charge, but it has always been cheap. In the 1940's, it was 30 cents, at least the 2000's-mid 2010's it wax $2, 2016-2018/2019 it was $4, and then until the pandemic began in March 2020, the price was $6. They only accepted cash payments.

Loved that place when I was a kid. But being older, and outside with heights I get a case of vertigo or something. Had an opportunity to go rooftop on one of the tallest LA office buildings a few years back and passed on that. No issue being inside though.

Do you have a problem on an observation deck like the Eiffel Tower or the Empire State Building, which have a high fence.

Yes if the deck is outside. Something like the Signature Room in the Hancock Building is fine. Amazingly it has closed. That speaks to the sad state of affairs in Chicago.

What is it like standing on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building.
