I am 50 year old accountant, single and no kids. I currently live in Joplin, Mo. been here for 14 months and hate it. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and I have lived in Ft. Worth for 1.5 years back in 2010 to 2011. Also lived in Chicago. I like both St. Louis and Dallas metropolitan areas. I'm looking to settle down, in one metropolitan area, for the next 20 years until I retire. Please give me your opinion on which of the two metropolitan areas you would prefer to live in.
Here's the list I used: St. Louis has the edge 5 to 3 vs. Dallas
Cost of Living St. Louis wins this one.
COL is lower in St. Louis, even with no state income tax in Texas
Job Market Dallas wins this one.
Texas has by far the best job market in the country. Everyone is moving to Texas.
Population St. Louis wins this one.
Refer above, everyone is moving to Texas. When I lived in Ft.Worth I heard on local news they predicta population growth from 5 million to 10 million in Dallas metropolitan in 10 years. Not good.
Traffic St. Louis wins this one.
Because of large population growth, in Dallas, there will be a lot of traffic problems.
Night Life Dallas wins this one.
I think St. Louis has goodnight life but Dallas has better.
Weather St. Louis wins this one.
St. Louis has milder weather compare to Dallas.
Outdoor Activities St. Louis wins this one.
St. Louis has more parks, green grass, trails and trees.
Yeah... I'm not buying that you spent a year and a half living in Fort Worth and still make reference to the "Dallas metro."
