Hi all.

I am interested in finding a new position in the Cleveland area. I don't really know too much about the companies in the area, but I wanted to potentially get some feedback on what you may have heard or experienced working in Cleveland. I work in procurement/purchasing/supply chain.

Here are some of the companies I've heard are decent in terms of culture and salary.

Swagelok
Sherwin-Williams
Eaton
Progressive
Parker Hannifin

Anything else I have missed?

From what I've heard, Progressive is by far the best of these in terms of employee experience, culture, perks and benefits.

Have heard similar on Progressive from a friend who works there.

Nestle employs about 2000 in Solon (Cleveland suburb), gets good employee reviews on Glassdoor, and was ranked #17 in the world on Supply Chain per Gartners’s 2023 rankings. I don’t know much about their culture per se, although my neighbor enjoys working there.

Cleveland Clinic may also be worth a look.

Lincoln Electric in Euclid is another great company to work for.
So is Eaton in Beachwood.

ABB has a facility in Highland Hills and a good company to work for.
American Greetings is another good one.
Steris which makes medical equipment is a good company too if you don't mind going to Mentor

Cleveland Cliffs is now one of the largest steel producers in the world based here.

Park Ohio is another good, midsized company

Arhaus Furniture has large facility in Boston Hts and is work checking out.

PCC Airfoils is another good company in the area.

I don't know how much credence to give these type of lists but this may help:
https://topworkplaces.com/award/cleveland/

I have heard anecdotally good things about Progressive, Sherwin, and Swagelok. Some others have been acquired / merged as is the trend so the 'workplace' environment can change often. Most large manufacturers have been mentioned in above comments.

A few more to check out:
Avient Corp - Polyone ; polymers thermoplastics
Bendix Air Brake Systems - parent company is German Knorr Bremse
Lubrizol - specialty chemicals
Shurtech adhesives mfr (Make Duck Tape brand)- locally owned

and the Hospital Systems (Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Summa (Akron)
Financial (Huntington, Key, PNC)

The big issue now is the non compete clauses you have to sign but if they do away with that in Ohio come April, it’s open season. Looking forward to them abolishing non competes in Ohio so that talented people can get paid what they are worth and still stay in their industry of choice instead of being locked into a non compete agreement. Places like Goodyear are in some serious trouble as I know several people that work there that can’t leave so to non compete. it will be a glorious win for Ohio workers once the non compete law is abolished.
