Hi,
My husband and I are looking to relocate to North Carolina from New Jersey.
We are interested in the Shallotte area. Was interested to find out if it is a growing area? I can find some information online but would prefer to hear from people that actually live there. We will be opening up an auto repair business somewhere near by hopefully as that is what we do in NJ.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

The C-D profile of Shallotte will give you many facts. https://www.city-data.com/city/Shall...-Carolina.html

Since 2000, Shallotte has grown by 215 percent, so, yes it is growing. Note that the median resident age is 55.7, so you could call it a retirement area.

It’s definitely an area that is growing quickly. Lots of new housing, new shopping. The area serves folks from Southport, Oak Island, Supply, Holden Beach, Ocean Isle. A new shopping center opened several months ago with Marshall’s, Ulta, Hobby Lobby, Ross, Burke’s, Rack Room Shoes, Five Below, and Starbucks.

Shallotte is growing quite a bit.

https://www.wect.com/2021/12/13/thre...nswick-county/.

Just south of Shallotte is the town of Calabash and the town just approved 4 major developments.

295 townhomes in one, 146 SFH's in another, 312 multi family homes in yet another and a 470 SFH in the last.

There are a couple of new developments currently under construction in Ocean Isle Beach.

Where in NJ are you coming from?

Wilmington Star-News, Aug 27, 2021. Why census data doesn't tell the whole story about Shallotte's growth

I don't think that just because an area is experiencing population growth means no businesses will ever close.

Coastal Cinemas 10 in Shallotte, NC - Cinema Treasures

Did not know this but the theater was damaged during hurricane Florence in 2018 and hasn't opened since.

We are coming from Jackson, NJ. Central NJ. We are about 30 to 45 min from the ocean, trying to find someplace a little closer as we would love to get a boat. Concerned about flooding in the area. We are used to hurricanes and snowstorms, but not flooding..

thank you for that link, it certainly looks like it's a growing area!
we are really looking for some property that we can build a modular home on. I really want to be in a neighborhood but not with HOA fees. I don't know if what we are looking for is possible, but I'm looking!
