I have a place to plant a vine which will grow on a trellis. What have people had good luck with in zone 7? It needs to be deer-resistant.

You could do Carolina Jessamine. Deer won't eat it because it's poisonous. Beautiful native vine, though.

Maypop, Passiflora incarnata, is gorgeous. There is a wild patch near me and plenty of deer, but they seem to leave it alone. Very cool passionfruits from it too.

Maybe a native coral honeysuckle? Not sure how the deer feel about that.

We have, what I think is coral honeysuckle. It grew so well it bent the metal trellis over. Now it’s a big "blob." I don’t have deer so I can’t address that aspect.

Good luck.

Last year I grew Heavenly Blue Morning Glories from seed then replanted them in to big pots on either side of my arched trellis. The pots were used to contain them as they can be invasive.

They covered my trellis archway all summer in beautiful blooms...

I'm in coastal NC zone 8A...

I have Star Jasmine growing on a trellis and deer do not seem to bother it. It’s easy to grow, evergreen and has lovely white flowers spring and early summer.

Oh, also native Trumpet Creeper. Hummingbirds love it!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I was looking at an orange Bignonia, but now I think it would be too big and aggressive. I have a 6 foot trellis.

Love the trumpet creeper but it needs some room or lots of attention to keep it in check. The dept of Ag lists it as an invasive species, but it is lovely!

Try confederate jasmine. It takes a couple of years to mature. I had one when I lived in Charleton. Cardinals built a nest in it!
