How has the collectible market been affected by the virus? Still the same interest or are items starting to sit?

Is there is a similar issue with collectibles as there is with the housing market ie a supply issue?

Haven't all the collectible markets been falling for the past couple of years? Covid certainly isn't helping as auctions will have all been cancelled. Online sales are probably about the same.

No.

I have sold $380 wroth of stuff in the last three days alone. I am doing great, and have even sold on CL.

The notion that the collectible market across the board is down in the last couple years is not remotely true!

As usual it's the "what it is" is what matters.

I sold a record for $325 two months ago that I could not sell for $30 eight years ago. So how are sales of everything down........

Predicting what people are thinking about or chose as far as optional items in what many consider a down market is tough. Down sizing now so sooner or later will have make a choice to sell low, store, donate etc.

I'm not actively buying or selling now, as I am in a doubly-at-risk category, but I did take part (as a bidder) in a series of online auctions of family heirlooms left by a deceased cousin who chose that route rather than leave any of her substantial estate specifically to any of her relatives (brother, niece, nephew, eight first cousins, more younger "removed" cousins...).

None of her relatives know where the proceeds will eventually go, and the lawyer who's the executor is being extremely unhelpful. It was only by chance that we learned about the two auction companies handling the estate, both of which were located in an adjoining state from my late cousin's home. It took a total of eight auctions to move it all. So we're all auctioned out at present.

So I retrieved family silver, portraits, my grandmother's table, a lamp from my grandmother's parlor, and more. Had to buy additional silver polish to handle the newly-arrived silver - now just need to put it to use. Other relatives retrieved jewelry, our grandmother's prayer book, additional family portraits, and items from the other side of my late cousin's family.

So I am rather out-of-pocket atm, but since I won't be traveling this Christmas, can apply those savings to the cost of salvaging family heirlooms from unknown destinations. Just hope that the proceeds will eventually go to a good cause, and am still baffled by the lawyer's refusal to communicate with my late cousin's family.
