Autographed Records/CD’s (metal)

I am good friends with members of a very popular metal band from the ‘80’s (their stuff is still all over the airwaves). I have a sealed copy of one of their platinum albums and they are offering to autograph it. My question is: Would it make it more valuable to sign it sealed or for them to sign the CD itself, which is inside the packaging. I want to pass it down to my grandchildren so they know who those weird looking men at grandpa’s house were.
